I earned my degree in Bachelor of Science in Mathematics for Teachers from Philippine Normal University, but my drive for learning seemed insatiable – I wanted to improve my skills in teaching. Therefore, I decided to take some units of master’s in educational management at Polytechnic of the Philippines University. Later, I had obtained 30 units in Master of Arts in Teaching, major in Mathematics from The National Teachers College.
I am currently working as a secondary teacher in the Department of Education. I worked as a part time SHS teacher in a private school for three years. Moreover, I am an experienced academic tutor, preparing learners on their examinations and assisting them in their homeworks. I can construct assessment tools to gauge my tutees’ improvement. My experience on working in different learning and tutorial centers helped me improve my teaching strategies and techniques. It also gave me more understanding on students’ attitude and learning styles.
One of the most prominent achievements that I received was being a Coach for an international Mathematics competition. It was the International Math Open for Young Achievers that was conducted in Park Royal Singapore last September 2019. This milestone brought out my utmost potential to nurture my students’ ability to compete internationally. I am also an MTAP coach for Grade 7 for 6 years. I had been a Trainor for MTAP Grade 10 teachers in our division.
Teaching has always been my passion; I feel a certain kind of gratification whenever I get to help my students understand the entirety of our discussions. I have been in the field of education for more than a decade now. Having to witness their proud moments standing on the stage confidently made my heart pound in excitement. I want my students to know that they are capable of understanding Mathematics – no matter how difficult it may seem to them. I will be here to guide them and be with them on their journey towards learning.
